Finally a fine afternoon, so out we went with the skipping ropes. While there were a few children who were pretty competent with a rope, there were a large number who were not, and some children even admitted to never having even skipped with a rope before! It was great to see how many children persevered - whether it be running in and skipping with a long rope, or skipping backwards, with a rebound or cross-armed with a single rope. Skipping is a great way to increase aerobic fitness, and with the tri-athlon looming next term, it might be beneficial for the children to start increasing their fitness over the holidays.
This week we started a new artwork and completed it today. Each child was given an A4 piece of paper that had part of a picture on it. Using pastels, they coloured, shaded and blended. We then crossed olur fingers and hoped that it worked out, as Mrs Rout put it altogether. What do you think?
It looks AMAZING!!!!! And before I left school this afternoon, I put it up on the wall. All I can say is 'WOW!!!!"
Today's challenge was an individual activity based on problem solving. There were 3 different problems for the children to work through, although they had to get each problem correct before they could move on to the next one. It was great to see so many children really persevering until they solved the problems. The first person to complete all 3 problems was Glorian, who just 'flew' through them all in record time. The second person to complete all 3, and the first boy to finish, was Leighton. Congratulations to you both - you should be very proud of your efforts.
Miss Ward and I were blown away by the number of children who were able to solve all 3 problems in the time given, and here they are ...
