Our focus for writing this term is 'Persuasive' writing which includes arguments, debates and explanations.
Mrs Rout's group had impromptu debates today. The children positioned themselves on an imaginary continuum line, depending on whether they agreed or disagreed with a given statement. In pairs, they then had to come up with one reason for their position, and deliver it to the class.
Not sure how much effect the production had had, but suffice to say there were some very effective, if not forceful, arguments given!!
Lots of laughs and some great discussion followed.
